Welcome to Halo Hearing Solutions

Our ability to hear defines who we are and how we communicate. When everything works as it should, our sense of hearing has the power to inform, entertain and connect us with family and friends.

As we grow older, many people begin to experience hearing loss. This is a natural part of the ageing process and develops gradually over time.

Already at age 20, we have lost the ability to perceive some of the sound’s infants can hear.
By the time we reach 30 or 40, subtle but significant losses have begun to occur. As we continue to live longer, coupled with growing exposure to loud noise from modern lifestyles, hearing impairment is increasingly common at an early age.
Even a slight hearing loss can have a negative impact on our ability to work, socialise and enjoy life. It is estimated that around 10 million or 1 in 6 people in the UK experience some form of hearing loss.

The majority of people will experience some level of hearing loss as they age; this is known as ‘age-related hearing loss’ and is caused by general wear and tear of the cochlea (organ of hearing), which happens naturally over time. This type of hearing loss is the most common type and affects more than half of all people over the age of 70. As this type of hearing loss happens so gradually, it can often go unnoticed and it is often family, friends or loved ones that notice first.

Signs that you may have a hearing loss include:

• The perception of other people mumbling or not speaking clearly.

• Difficulty in understanding or following conversation when there is any type of background noise.

• Feeling that the TV is not clear and turning the volume up or using subtitles.

• Difficulty hearing on the telephone.

• Often asking others to repeat themselves.

Hearing loss can significantly dilute quality of life potentially leading to social withdrawal, isolation, and anxiety when in most cases, technology can be employed to determine and significantly mitigate the root cause of the hearing challenge.
